In this blog post we’re pleased to share attendee feedback on Summit 2023 (using data gathered from our post-event attendee survey).

The attendee survey is a vital step in helping us evaluate our event offering and ensure that Summit remains the best event for database professionals to attend. So, with that in mind, we’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who participated!

Top-level results:

We’re delighted that 2023 attendees were very positive about their Summit experience:

  • 96% of attendees rated Summit 2023 4 or 5 stars (out of a maximum 5 stars),
  • 98% of attendees said that they were able to achieve their personal objectives at Summit,
  • 98% of attendees said that they were able to learn actionable information that could be applied to their day-to-day work,
  • 98% of attendees visited the Exhibit Hall,
  • 94% of attendees rated Summit communication as 4 or 5 stars (out of a maximum 5 stars)

Attendees praised the dedicated conference app (this is something we’ll continue to develop over the coming year), and 99% of attendees said that receiving Summit emails was their preferred method of contact. So, if you haven’t done so already, make sure that you’re signed up to our mailing list to get the very latest news and information from us.

Please note that the above percentages are based on those who participated in the 2023 Attendee Survey.

What makes Summit special?

Attendees come to Summit for many reasons, but in keeping with findings from previous years, respondents told us that they particularly love:

  1. The quality and variety of the sessions available,
  2. The chance to network with the incredible data community, make new friends and gain professional contacts,
  3. Keeping up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies,
  4. A chance to troubleshoot issues with fellow attendees and vendors in-person,
  5. Learning practical new skills and knowledge that can be applied at work, ultimately saving them, their company and even potential clients’ time and money!

What did attendees enjoy the most?

We also asked attendees what their favorite thing about Summit 2023 was, and, with their consent, we thought it would be nice to share their direct feedback here:

  • ‘In a career where most people are either solo or have a very small team, it’s a great opportunity to engage with an amazing and supportive community.’
  • ‘The Community Zone, as well as the sponsor parties and other social events.’
  • ‘I always come away with items that provide me a ROI that make the conference worth it. The conference keeps me up to date on current items and helps guide my decisions on what is best to implement.’
  • ‘As a first-time attendee… I found everyone to be very welcoming and engaging, with a high level of knowledge both in the speakers and attendees overall.’
  • ‘I came away with a good list of items that would make me not only more efficient but allow me to focus on other value-added projects.’
  • ‘Talking to peers about trends in the industry. I also feel it is THE place to talk about Postgres.’
  • ‘I enjoyed the pre-cons most. Finally enough time to dig into the topic.’
  • ‘The community, regardless of where you were, who you met or what you did. Everybody was friendly, took their time and just enjoyed themselves.’
  • ‘I very much enjoyed talking to vendors about solutions and in some cases even “white-boarding” problems and solutions on the spot.’
  • ‘… there is no better networking and education opportunity for data professionals than the PASS Summit.’
  • ‘It was all about connecting with fellow data enthusiasts, exchanging insights, and having a blast. It wasn’t just a summit; it was a networking fiesta!’

We also welcome attendees’ recommendations for ways we can improve future events, so stay tuned as later in the year we’ll share an update on what new and improved aspects you can look forward to in 2024 as a result of the feedback we’ve received.

Community Insights Survey

The attendee survey isn’t the only opportunity to share thoughts with the organizing team however, at the end of January we’ll launch our Community Insights Survey which will be open for 3 weeks. Attendees and non-attendees alike are welcome to take part in the survey as this helps us gather opinions on what content the data community would like to see at PASS Data Community Summit 2024.

To be the first to hear when our Community Insights Survey launches, and to get notified as soon as Summit 2024 tickets go on sale, make sure that you’re signed up to our mailing list.
